Martin Kalbac graduated in inorganic chemistry from the Charles University, Prague, Czech Republic, EU (1998) where he also received a degree Ph.D. in 2002. Since 2001 he has worked at the J. Heyrovsky Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic as a research scientist. From 2010 he is a vice-director of the institute. He is member of Expert commission of the Scientific council of the Czech Republic and, member of the Scientific Board of the Regional Centre of Advanced Technologies and Materials. From 2010 he is holding a teaching appointment at the Palacky University in Olomouc.
He had passed several research internships at the Leibniz Institute of Solid State and Materials Research in Dresden, Germany, EU; Institute of Microtechnology, University of Neuchatel, Switzerland and Massachusetts institute of technology (MIT) Cambridge, U.S.A.
He is an author of more than 80 publications in scientific journals. The SCI database compiles more than 1100 citations to these works, h-index = 17.
In 2004 he received Humboldt research fellowship. His research work was also honored with Otto Wichterle award (2007) and the Award of the ASCR for excellent results of great scientific impact (2008).
